DJ Sylk raised in Hollis Queens, New York always had a passion for music. At the age of 9 he began playing the trumpet and reading sheet music. Only months later because of the dj influences around him as a child he started to learn the craft of DJing. At 13, Sylk was given the opportunity to DJ on the Spirit of New York (The biggest cruise liner in NYC) with Major Vet DJ’s and of course held his own.
Throughout Sylk’s scholastic years he continued to perfect his craft DJing school parties, youth group functions, weddings, and of course family functions. After college Sylk pursued DJing in clubs, ski trips and networking through NYC. The networking, hard work, practice, and don’t give up attitude got him the opportunity to play in the Dominican Republic to open up for legendary R&B group Tony Toni Toné. This led to playing Deborah Cox’s Bday party and opening up for other artists such as Carl Thomas, Mel’lisa Morgan, Ryan Leslie, and Rakim.
Dj Sylk was Roxanne Shante’s tour dj for 11 years. During those years he has torn down stages all over the world. Sylk has also worked with many people in the industry such as, Da Beatminerz, legendary Kool DJ Red Alert, Pete Rock, Kurtis Blow, Nice & Smooth, Sweet Tee, Dres of BlackSheep, Big Daddy Kane, Chubb Rock and many more. Sylk is most known for hearing his voice on The Have a Nice Day show with Roxanne Shante Ft DJ Sylk on LL Cool J’s Rock The Bells Radio on SiriusXM.
